2/7/2009 · Best Answer: It takes roughly 23 days from the start of incubation. Lovebirds lay about and egg every other day, and won't really start to incubate them until 2-3 eggs are laid. If your first egg was laid on the 8th, figure about the 12th till the bird started incubating, so anytime now would be about right for the first egg to start hatching.

During this time, the lovebirds will mate repeatedly and you can expect eggs to follow 3-5 days later. The female will spend hours inside her nesting box before eggs are laid. Just let her be and do not disturb her. Once the first egg is laid a new egg will follow every other day until the clutch is complete—usually 4 – 6 eggs.

3/19/2010 · As for why the eggs aren't hatching, you may have two females, or the eggs aren't fertile. Usually a pair will mate and produce the first egg 10 days after mating. Then another egg is laid every other day until the clutch totals 4 to 6 eggs. After 6 or 7 days, you should be able to tell if the eggs are fertile by "candling" them.
